Nov. 4th, 2007 09:05 pm Second record setting game

I was blessed to be able to see the Vikings/Packers game in MN and saw BF throw his record breaking touchdown pass (yeah, I just threw up a little in my mouth having to type that) and today I got to see Adrian Peterson break the rushing record against the Chargers.  Oh yeah, we won the game today (yeah it was awesome).  All was great except for the guy sitting two rows in front of me who kept poking me in the belly whenever we scored in the second half to get my attention so he could high five me.  What can I say, I am the drunk old guy magnet.  Score one for me!

Now for the game tomorrow, my Steelers are going to beat up on the Ravens.  So help me God, if it is like the last time they met and I have to hear about how many times the Ravens D-Line flattened Ben I will personally whoop up on either the Ravens and/or the Steelers O-Line.  Ben is looking great and mobile in the pocket (amongst other places :) so I am hoping that this game will have a different outcome (namely a win).

Oct. 24th, 2007 06:04 pm Not today

nothing of note to say.  just that I am full of hate and rage and pms (of which i believe is causing the first two symptoms).  worked out for an hour over lunch and I killed some of the anger with endorphins but that's not enough for now.  perhaps some liquor to squash this blah night?

edit: i do not like being the negative one but heck, even i have my days.

Sep. 4th, 2007 06:14 pm I'm not that freakin old (gripe session ahead!!!)

But for the love of all that is good I am convinced that my body is turning against me.  Ok, that is a slight dramatization  but it sure feels like it.  Either late last year or early this year I developed an avulsion in my left hamstring which, once diagnosed, took me out of training for a run I was going to do this past spring.  Time marched on and I was pretty good about laying off running and other activities (like yoga) that was putting too much stress on my hamstring.  It was July when I began my training for another race, I had laid off my hammy for almost 4 months and training was going well.  Yep, there isn't a storybook ending to this little adventure.  After a few weeks of rain I begin my first 20 miler and about 1/2 way through (on a trail that I am very familiar with) and I go down, not too hard but with my foot still tucked under the root that I managed to snag it on.  The ankle fared well but the hammy, not so much.  Not quite back to square one but close enough that I don't think I'll be doing my run this fall :(  Not wanting to give up completely on my training I decided last Thursday that it would be a good idea to do some strength/cross training.  My mom just bought the new series of DVD's from The Firm and I though I'd give 'em a shot.  The first one I try is Hi-Def Sculpt, awesome workout but only about 45 min's so I pop in the Cardio Fusion since that one is supposed to be about 60 min's (but only about 50 min's of actual workout time).  Felt ok the rest of the day and yoga class went well.  The next day I could hardly freakin walk.  The lateral aspects of my quads (but not my IT band I discovered when trying to foam roll) were toast.  I manage to get through Friday at the fair (thanks for covering for me at work mom and dad) but I was afraid of that day after the day after effect and was thinking that Saturday was going to be worse.  Well, Saturday wasn't too bad and Sunday wasn't bad either.  I managed a short walk with Sean's sister in law when we were up at Green Lake and felt ok.  So despite some lingering pain still this morning I had to work out since I had been, basically, a sloth the whole weekend.  The pain, oh the pain.  All right, I am being a fucking drama queen here but I am learning that physiologically I am not the young whipper snapper I once was.  This body isn't bouncing back the way it used to.  Maybe the eliptical will be a little more user friendly tomorrow at the gym?!?!?

Outside of that my life is pretty boring still.  No more drama on the ex-boyfriend front.  I am just terrified that karma is going to come back around and kick my ass for what happened.  Maybe it is just karma's way of letting me get back at all those guys who dumped me before?  Confusious says I should stop looking so much into it and just enjoy the fact that it is over.

I am going to the MN/GB game on Sept 30th and can't wait.  Of course I can wait for the having to wear green and gold part of that trip but a bet is a bet and I lost fair and square.  Please God, let the Vikings win at least one of the games in the series this year!!!

No more ramblings for now.

Jul. 18th, 2007 10:39 am Quickie

Training started this week for the 50K Glacial Trail run in October.  Of course training eases you into it but with my hammy ouchie I haven't been running since March.  We'll see how things come along.

Today is the first day of Country Thunder USA and Sean and I are going.  I can't remember the afternoon acts but tonight is going to be Reba at 8 and Trace Atkins at 10.  Yes, I am playing hookie from work this afternoon and thankfully I don't have to be in until noon tomorrow for a yoga session.

That's all for now.  Can't think of much more to say.

Jun. 23rd, 2007 10:00 pm The final week

Of the WCA's Exercise Screening class.  This is 36 hours of my life that I will never get back and at the rate we are going at the office, will not pay off there for a while.  The information that we are learning is good and practical but right now it is NOT practical for us because of the time constraints that we have on us now.  Adding my doing these screens will only bind us up more.  With that all said, tomorrow is the last day and they have 2 hours slotted for the exam and I am thinking that it will not take that long.  God willing I can get out of there early...of course there has been talk of cocktails at the bar after the exam.  Hmmmm, I suppose I could be persuaded to stay.

Mike and Ally were here last night.  They drove up and stayed the night because they were flying to Medford to visit my grandma and family out there.  They have been running into some...technical difficulties...flying today.  Mike has been drinking his way through the day and poor Ally has been trying to deal with it (and by it I mean the delays and Mike's relaxed drunkenness).  God bless you girl!

Well, I tried my hand at running today.  It had been about 2 1/2 months since I had run due to my avulsion.  After 'laying off' it' for a while I have to say that it felt pretty good.  I know that it is not 100% but at least there has been some improvement.  If I can just keep off it until early next month I think I will be close enough to start training again.  God willing I will run the Glacial Trail 50K again this year and, hopefully, shave 15 or so minutes off last year's time.  Andy is running the Western States 100 today and will be finishing sometime tomorrow morning.  I hope he finishes within 24 hours.  I know that was his goal.  I also hope that Deb is holding up well.  She is such a trooper.  Corey also ran her marathon in Alaska today.  She wanted to finish in 4:30. I don't know how that turned out but I am sure she rocked it out!

Well, off to sleep...per chance to dream.  Blah, blah, blah.

Jun. 11th, 2007 12:05 pm Away, I ran away...

Well, not really.  This weekend Mike and Allyson came up with the kids for a weekend away and I, unfortunately, had class all weekend.  When the gang got here on Friday the kids all got settled in and Mason (the quadraped) quickly got around to sniffing Maggie and Lucky's hinders and then settled down (eventually :).  Mike and Allyson both looked great.  I am still trying to get used to seeing Mike with facial hair but it is fitting for him, more so than my father!  The kids were amazingly well behaved despite the puppy chaos that was going on.  We were out in the back looking at the fish in the pond and Mason and Peyton were trying to catch the toadies out there (to no avail).  Not long after mom got home and immediately said her hello's to all and we settled down for a little chat.  Dad came home soon after with a tank that he had at school with frogs and tadpoles and the kids loved it!  Mom, she was not so thrilled.  I think the best part about him bringing it home (at least in her mind) was knowing they would be set free outside the next day.

The following day I had to get up early for class and of course mom was already awake but Mason was up as well watching SpongeBob.  Peyton was up shortly after and then Mike and Allyson came out and rounded up the rest of the gang.  I think mom loved having so many polite, great kids there gobbling up all the good stuff she had made.  From there I was basically either at class, the gym, or Sean's the rest of the weekend.  I have to thank Peyton for lining up my shoes for me, yes...Auntie Kyrsten's room is messy.  Also for Miss Kendyl, you can have anything else in my room honey but I love my bear.  He is going to be 20 years old this year and he is my most favoritest bear in the whole wide world.  I just can't part with him yet.

I am looking forward to not having class this weekend.  It would be nice to have the classes done and over with this weekend but I will definitely look forward to a weekend off.  Especially since mom and dad are leaving for the DC trip on Friday!
